I love my job as principal of St. Anselm School! I get to spend my day with wonderful students and be a part of an outstanding community. My favorite part of St. Anselm School is the love that everybody has for one another. When someone is sick or going through a hardship, the community bands together to help one another.

Pastor | Father William Brown

William Eugene Brown was born in Los Angeles, California, son of Eugene and Mary Jane Brown (both deceased). He was baptized, confirmed and received First Communion at age nineteen in Pella, Iowa, during his freshman year at Central College.

Bill then began graduate studies at Stanford University, where he earned a Master of Arts degree in German Literature before leaving the doctoral program to enter St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park. He received a Master of Divinity degree in 1987 and was ordained to the priesthood on April 9, 1988, for the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

Dean of Students | Mr. Anthony Balistreri

B.A. Sociology, Sonoma State University

M.S. Education, National University

State of California Credential, National University

I was born and raised in San Francisco.  I attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School and Sacred Heart Cathedral High School.  The Salesian Boys and Girls Club was a transformative place where I spent my childhood and learned the values of community, friendship, and sportsmanship.  I received my undergraduate degree from Sonoma State University and my credential and Masters degree in Education from National University.  I have worked for Rhythm & Moves Inc. where I taught physical education at a number of schools throughout the bay area.  In addition to teaching I also mentored and supervised teachers. The majority of my twenty two year career has been spent at St. Veronica, St. Isabella and our very own St. Anselm.  I have been an active member of CAHPERD (California Association for Physical Education Recreation and Dance) where I have been a  presenter at their yearly conference. I have been the recipient of Rhythm & Moves Inc. Teacher of the Year award in 2013 and their UBUNTU award for working with school communities in 2017.

For me teaching is not just a profession, it is a vocation.  My goals are aimed at committing an emphasis on educating the whole person: intellectually, physically, socially, morally, emotionally and spiritually.  In a partnership with the family and the education community, I will strive to provide a quality education for all our students.

Office Assistant | Mrs. Amy Tarantino
Business Administration – University of San Diego

I love working in the office because I enjoy interacting with our wonderful parents and staff as well as seeing our kiddos when they visit us in the office for bandaids and ice packs. It’s the best of both worlds!
My favorite St. Anselm memory is watching my 8th grade daughters perform in their 8th grade plays alongside their friends. It is such a nice culmination of nine years together as a class.

The best thing about teaching at St. Anselm School is witnessing students’ curiosity for learning and having the opportunity to watch them wonder, question, experiment, and succeed.
