  First Grade News April/May 2010

The last quarter of first grade is very busy. The “town” for this year is Paradise Lake (named by the children).  We are all getting very excited about the big day.  Please make sure the students are here on time in costume that morning.  The play will begin at 8:30 a.m.  Although I haven’t officially timed the play this year, it should last approximately 20 to 25 minutes.  The play will be repeated again for Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 6th grade at 9: 15.

We will begin the ABC countdown for the last 26 days of school on Wednesday, May 5th.  The letter “D”, on May 10th, is the day we will celebrate the Mass for St. Damien.  All 31 students have an active role in presenting the Mass and will also be in the choir.  I hope parents will be able to join us for this special Mass and the first celebration of St. Damien’s feast day.

The letter “L”, on May 20th is for Learn about the Marin Art and Garden Center.  This will be our last field trip of the year.  Permission slips will be going home soon, and we will ask for parent volunteer drivers.  Drivers will be selected from parents who have all necessary forms completed and updated. If you are unsure that all your paperwork is complete, please check with the office.

I have included the ABC countdown days.  Some of the days have the children bringing in something to share.  In addition to this list, I will also remind students if they need to bring something for the following day.  The excitement will continue now through June 10, and the days will fly by.
