iRun – Technology Fundraiser – Friday, March 31st, 2017

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

The Annual St. Anselm School iRun Technology Fundraiser will be held Friday, March 31st ,2017.

  • As we kick off the iRun, our focus this year is to “Aim High and Run Strong.” Each week at Friday Salutes, we will send an inspirational message to the kids about training, working hard, and reaching their goals!
  • WHAT CAN PARENTS DO:
  • Print out the training guide and chart provided here
  • Discuss the guide with your child and have them set a goal for the # of laps they would like to run
  • Get out and train – on a local hiking or biking trail, in the neighborhood, around the school!
  • SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER – Lap Counters and Snack Station Volunteers will be needed the day of the event! It is so much fun to see how excited the kids get and how hard they run! Sign up here!
  • Go out and fund-raise – iRun is not meant to be another parent obligation to donate to the school – send an email to faraway friends and family, talk to neighbors, store and restaurant merchants! Wear last year’s iRun shirt and tell everyone about the event!
  • WHAT ARE WE RAISING MONEY FOR:
  • Creating a “Makerspace” portable laboratory for our kids to create and engineer “Do it Yourself” projects that support the STEM curriculum. This type of learning enhances resourcefulness, perseverance, and efficient problem-solving skills combined with the ability to adapt and learn in novel situations.
  • Supporting Parent Education Funding to bring Tech Speakers to our school
  • New cart of iPads with more circulation into the classrooms
  • GO TO FARMBURGER ON MARCH 15TH FOR THE IRUN DINE AND DONATE! – we dine, they donate back to the school! They will also be providing a burger bash for the class who brings in the most donations for the iRun!!

2017 Festival Media Release

35th Saint Anselm Festival of Fun Returns with New Attractions

San Anselmo, CA – The 35th annual Saint Anselm Festival of Fun returns on Saturday, May 20, from 10 am to 8 pm. This fun-filled day delights 1,500+ Marin and Ross Valley families with over 25 attractions: vintage carnival rides, prize games (cake wheel, pick-a-pop, salami toss and more), jumpy houses and slides, the Panther Café, strolling entertainers, face painting, and more. Admission is free, and tickets are purchased for the rides and games. New for 2017:

  • The 40’ Fiesta Balloon Ferris Wheel has beautifully handcrafted gondola balloons, and unlike the classic Ferris wheel, this ride is hexagonal! The popular and surprising inflatable Human Foosball makes its Festival debut.
  • The menu at the Panther Café features new offerings: mac n’ cheese, BBQ chicken sandwiches, Greek salad, curly fries, fine wines, and all-star local craft brews from the Lagunitas Brewing Company.
  • Audience participation is encouraged at the old-fashioned pie eating contest starting at 3pm onstage.
  • Strolling entertainers: Once-Upon-A-Song costumed fairytale characters (Snow White to Peter Pan) from 10:30am to 1:30pm; Seamore, the interactive, talking robot will greet and entertain guests from 11 am to 2 pm; the Bubble Buddy will make spectacular bubbles for the kids to chase, pop, and play in, and provide tubs and wands for them to make their own from 2 pm to 4 pm; and Buki the Clown will entertain with her balloon artistry starting at 4 pm and comedy and magic show at 5:30 pm.

Festival of Fun traditions return with the Giant Slide and Tea Cup rides, special Three Twins Ice Cream and Sugar Shack dessert stations, old-school prize games for all ages, and much more.

Kim Orendorff, St. Anselm School principal says, “The Festival is fun for the entire family, and brings the school and wider community together for a wonder-filled family celebration. We look forward to welcoming local families here.”

Everything you need to know about participating in the Festival of Fun on May 20!

The Festival of Fun is on Saturday, May 20th! Over the next few weeks we are going to be sending out information on what’s new, what you can do to help, and what you need to know to participate and make this an amazing event for the school.

What’s new this year? Find your fun!

Make room in your house again for salamis and stuffies—Festival favorites the Salami Toss and Animal Wheel will be back, along with all the other games of chance and skill (come on, it’s all skill, right?). This year, we’re adding more (yes, more!) great stuff to the lineup. We’ll have a 24’ Giant Slide inflatable (that’s two feet taller than the previous one), and—are you ready?—Human Foosball! Picture yourself strapped to a Foosball bar, running right and left with your teammates to get that ball through the defenders and into the goal. Imagine the table game; now think life-sized.

Seamore the interactive robot will be roaming the grounds talking to people, and the kids will love Buki the Clown’s balloon artistry and comedy magic show. The Bubble Buddy will make spectacular bubbles for the kids to chase, pop, and play in, and provide tubs and wands for them to make their own. For those who can’t resist a little gluttony, we’ve added a pie-eating contest this year. Signups will be the day of the Festival, so start practicing. Or maybe don’t.

All this talk making you thirsty? Lagunitas Brewing Company will be serving their IPA, Little Sumpin’, and Czech-Style Pils, to accompany the amazing Panther Café offerings, which this year will include a mac ‘n’ cheese bowl and BOTH regular and garlic curly fries. What?! PS: Those amazing Bavarian pretzels will be back.

Getting the word out—how you can help

We want the Festival to be a huge event for the school and the community. Please help us get the word out and get all your friends to come!

  • Put a poster in your car or business, a magnetic decal on your car, and/or a yard sign in your front yard. (Email Jim at jimfarley@comcast.net and he will get the materials to you)
  • Post the information on your Facebook page, Nextdoor, or other social media.
  • Forward the information to friends and family. You can copy and paste this blurb:
